According to Aviva’s latest How We Live report, three-quarters (73%) of Generation Z and two-thirds (65%) of millennial homeowners plan to undertake renovation work within the next 12 to 24 months. This presents a growing opportunity for tradespeople to expand their skills and services to help people realise their property dreams.
To meet this demand and deliver inspiration and expert advice, the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show is expanding and enhancing its seminar and masterclass programme so that tradespeople will leave the show with the knowledge needed to help diversify their portfolio.
The revamped programme will showcase the latest trends, from cutting-edge interior design ideas to advances in technology. It will also address evolving regulations so tradespeople can help their customers avoid common pitfalls. There will also be talks covering permitted development, project management, planning regulations and practical advice on navigating the system.
In addition, the show will place a major emphasis on sustainability responding to homeowners who are aiming to create greener homes. The Home Energy Hour, led by eco-expert David Hilton, will shine a light on the topic, with his sessions covering renewable energy, energy-efficient heating solutions, and a comparison of the latest options, from heat pumps to infrared systems, so that tradespeople can choose the best solutions for their clients’ needs.
Alongside the focused seminars and masterclasses, the show will bring hundreds of exhibitors showcasing thousands of products and services under one roof so tradespeople can network with them and add them to their black book of suppliers. There will also be opportunities for tradespeople and consumers to consult with industry specialists, gain impartial advice through 15-minute one-on-one expert consultations, and network with peers and thought leaders.
Michael Holmes, Homebuilding & Renovating show expert, says, “Home renovation is front and centre for UK homeowners as we head into 2025 with our research showing that the average home improvement project spend by show attendees is £151,000. This means that their to-do lists grow with the budget and so does the need for skilled, knowledgeable tradespeople to do the work. This year’s programme of seminars and masterclasses, delivered by industry experts, will not only help tradespeople to enhance their expertise but also open doors to new opportunities by equipping them with actionable insights and a network of valuable connections.”
