Find a trusted FMB builder at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show

Planning a home renovation or building project? Come and meet the UK’s largest construction trade body – the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) for expert advice on how to find a reputable builder in your area.

The FMB will be kicking off its show season at the South East Homebuilding & Renovating Show this weekend (17-18 January) at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre.

Visitors to the FMB stand (L127) will also have the chance to hear about how to get involved in the FMB’s latest campaigns, including the FMB’s Licence to Build campaignIt calls on the Government to introduce a mandatory licensing system for small building companies, which could save homeowners billions of pounds.

Research by the FMB revealed the scale of the problem: £14.3bn has been lost to cowboy builders in just the last five years alone.

To strengthen the case for licensing, the FMB wants to hear from anyone who’s been let down by a rogue builder. Your story could help protect future homeowners from similar experiences.

Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the FMB, said:

“We’re delighted to be kicking off our 2026 show season at the South East Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Farnborough. I’d encourage anyone planning a building or renovation project to come and meet the FMB team at stand L127. You can also find out about our latest campaigns and how to get involved –  and how to find a reputable builder in your local area.”

Iain Kirtley, FMB South Hub Director, who will be on the stand added:

“I’m really looking forward to representing the FMB at this weekend’s Homebuilding & Renovating Show. I’ll be joined by a number of our expert members, who’ll be on hand to offer practical advice, guidance, and support on every aspect of building and renovation. Visitors always tell us how much they value the chance to speak directly with our members about their projects and to learn more about the FMB, including how our Find a Builder service can help them connect with trusted, quality builders.”
